What a snowy start to our week!
Please note that we will not be going outside to play in the winter months. No boots are needed for our school day.
On Monday, Kristin Winkler served as our parent volunteer. Thank you Kristin!
Here is what we did today:
Choice Time: The children were given three choices: fall lacing cards, mini magnadoodles, and balloon toss.
Circle Time: We read the story, "Who Will Carve the Turkey This Thanksgiving?" In the book, several different choices were suggested to answer this question.....a killer whale, a saber-toothed tiger, a tyrannosauraus rex, a polar bear, a great white shark, leafcutter ants, an elephant, piranhas, a swordfish, a coyote, a seal lion, a hippo, a skunk, a moose, and finally a Grandpa. Can you guess the correct one? (Grandpa)
Snack Time: Ella brought snack on Monday. It was Peanut Butter Ritz and juice. Thank you Ella!
On Tuesday, Blake brought bananas and milk. Thank you Blake!
Center Time: Blotto painting was done at the art table. All of the other center activities were also available.
Reminder: Important papers went home in the back packs today!
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Thank you to the children and families that donated the food for the Bettendorf Food Pantry! We looked at the different items and they gave us a good topic for conversation. If anyone still would like to bring in food, we will make sure it gets to the Pantry as soon as possible!
Choice Time: The children were given three choices:
- wooden/tree-like blocks
- a grocery store themed memory game
- an obstacle course
Story Time: The story, "I Know An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Pie" was read. In the story, the lady swallowed many things besides a pie. Ask your child what else they remember that she swallowed. (cider, roll, squash, salad, turkey, pot, cake, and bread) At the end of the story the lady turned into a balloon at a Thanksgiving Day parade.
Snack Time: Edmond brought applesauce and milk on Wednesday for snack. Thank you Edmond!
On Thursday, Ava brought Minion Graham Crackers and Juice. Thank you Ava!
Center Time: Painting at the easel was available for the children along with all of the other center activities.
Please remember to turn in your book order asap and also a family picture for our class book.
Have a great day!

A Field Trip to HyVee!
Thank you to all of our parents and family members who helped us on our field trip to HyVee !! It was a very interesting behind the scenes look at the grocery store. We really could not have done it without your help!
Snack Time: The children made grape k-bobs for cooking day. They also celebrated "Birthday Day" with the decorated cookie donated to us by HyVee.
Center Time: It was nice to have a few family members stay and spend time with the children after we got back. The extra attention during our play time was greatly appreciated!
Reminder: please send in a 4x6 or a 3x5 family picture for our "Family Photo Book" ASAP!
Have a great weekend!
Below are the pictures of both classes at HyVee.

Sounds like the cold weather is coming! Are you ready!
Here is what we did today:
Choice Time: On Monday, we went outside and played with hoops and balls and the other activities.
On Tuesday, we stayed inside because it was damp and cold. We gave the children a chance to play either the game called, "Garbage" or table top easels.
Circle Time: We read the book, "Feast for 10." It was a story about a family going to a grocery store and making a dinner together. It featured the numbers 1 to 10. New songs and finger plays were introduced to the children including "Here is the Beehive," "Here's a Cup," and "Here is a Turtle."
Snack Time: On Monday, Ben brought Avenger Cheese crackers and juice. Thank you Ben! On Tuesday, Anna B. brought yogurt and white grape juice. Thank you Anna B.!

November 5/6, 2014 Wednesday/Thursday
It was good to see everyone at conferences this week! The school year is going fast!
Here is what we did today:
Choice Time: On Wednesday, it was nice enough to go outside. There were 2 big boxes for the children to play with and some nerf balls to use to throw and run around with. On Thursday, it was too cold and wet to go outside so we stayed inside and chose between tumbling, a game called "Jump the River," and cutting with scissors.
Circle Time: We read the story, "How Do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food?" It was a good one to use to start a discussion about proper table manners and how they can make grownups smile. Manners matter, as we say in preschool!
Snack Time: On Wednesday, Audrey brought apples, Wheat Thins, and chocolate milk. Thank you Audrey! On Thursday, Aleena brought graham crackers and juice for snack. Thank you Aleena!
Center Time: New "kinetic" sand replaced the corn in the discovery table. Also, new reading benches replaced our mats that were in the book area. Painting was available at the easels and all of the other centers were open for the children as well.
Remember: next Wednesday and Thursday is our field trip to HyVee on Utica Ridge and 53rd.
Also, if you send in a 4x6 picture of your family, we will put it in a photo book for the children to look at in the reading center.
Thanks for all of you do to help support the preschool! Have a great day!

November 3/4, 2014 Monday/Tuesday
Another beautiful day!
On Monday, Kristin Winkler was our parent helper. Thank you Kristin!
Here is what we did:
Choice Time: On Monday, since the weather continues to be nice, we continue to go outside. Balls were available along with all of the other choices to play with in the yard. On Tuesday, the playground was damp due to the previous night's rain so choice time was inside. The children could play either musical instruments, magna doodles, or marble race track.
Circle Time: We read the book, "Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons." It was a book on cd. It had a catchy little tune that repeated itself throughout the story. In the story, Pete lost all of his buttons off of his coat but did not cry because he still had one button left.....his belly button.
Snack Time: On Monday, Junior brought graham crackers and juice for snack. Thank you Junior! On Tuesday, Sadie brought wheat thins, cheese, and apple juice. Thank you Sadie!
Center Time: A group painting was done using vegetables. It will be hanging up in the hallway when it dries so be sure to take a look!
Hope to see you all this week for conferences!
Enjoy the day!
